what to do during your charter trip?

When chartering a yacht, it's essential to consider the available onboard activities and amenities. Yachts often provide a variety of water toys, board games, card games, as well as a curated selection of movies and music for entertainment. If there are specific water sports or toys that your clients prefer, we can ensure their availability, even if not initially included. Please note that certain cruising areas may have restrictions on motorised water toys like WaveRunners. Additionally, while most yachts do not offer scuba diving directly onboard due to insurance liability, the captain can arrange for local dive companies to facilitate diving experiences.

frequently asked questions

the crew

The crew is crucial for a successful charter, surpassing the importance of the yacht's choice. They play diverse roles, from diving instructors to personal trainers, and offer extensive knowledge of the cruising area. Their hospitality turns first-timers into repeat customers, and they provide meticulous attention to detail and round-the-clock service.

When to book your charter?

Yacht charters have two primary seasons: summer (May to October) and winter (November to April). Peak demand in summer is in July and August, while winter sees high demand during the holidays and into the New Year. Book at least six months to secure your preferred yacht and dates; famous yachts may be fully booked even a year in advance. Check for events coinciding with your charter, as they can affect availability.

Sailing or Motor?

Motor yachts exude speed, power, and luxury, making them ideal for entertaining large groups. In contrast, sailing yachts offer a romantic, traditional experience with surprising spaciousness. Your broker will help you choose the perfect yacht tailored to your preferences and needs for a fulfilling charter adventure.

Chartering with children

When chartering a yacht for a family getaway, consider entertainment options for children. Look for child-friendly facilities and itineraries. Choose a yacht with amenities like cinema rooms, water toys, and swimming pools. Ensure the crew is suitable for children. Your charter broker can help select the right yacht and crew for a memorable family vacation.

Chartering with pets

While some guests want to bring their pets on charters, not all yachts can accommodate them due to regulations and owner preferences. Even on pet-friendly yachts, well-behaved pets are crucial to maintaining the yacht's condition. Communicate your pet plans to your broker for assistance in securing a suitable charter and understanding contractual obligations.

food and drink

With the APA package, your chef and crew provide tailored onboard dining. Whether you fancy alfresco dinners or beach picnics, they ensure a memorable gastronomic experience. For onshore dining, your broker can recommend and reserve top-notch restaurants. Share your preferences early for stocked favorites and dietary accommodations.

How to set your budget?

Typically, the cost of spending a week on a yacht can range from tens of thousands to several million dollars.

However, the pricing of yacht charters is influenced by factors beyond superficial features that may initially captivate you. These factors encompass the size and type of the yacht, its age, the crew size, and the available amenities. Additional charges may apply for luxurious amenities like hot tubs or pools and recreational toys such as jet skis or personal submersibles. Moreover, specialised crew members like scuba dive masters or yoga instructors can further contribute to the overall cost.

It's important to note that online prices for yacht charters usually display only the base cost, which covers the yacht and crew. Additional expenses such as food, drinks, fuel, dockage fees, taxes, VAT, and onshore expenditures are typically not included. An Advanced Provisioning Allowance (APA), typically around 30% of the charter price, is billed in advance to cover these costs. Guests often receive a partial refund of this amount if it is not fully utilised, such as in the case of unexpected weather conditions resulting in less fuel consumption.

Gratuities are another consideration and are separate from the APA. These are paid in cash at the end of the trip, usually given to the yacht's captain for distribution. The recommended gratuity amount ranges from 10% to 25% of the base charter yacht fee, with customs varying by location. Your broker can provide specific guidance on gratuity practices in different regions, ensuring you are well-informed.

a few information on board

INTERNET

Yachts typically provide standard wireless access, but availability may be limited in certain areas. If you anticipate regular internet use or need high bandwidth during your charter, please notify us in advance. Upgrades, subject to availability, may incur charges based on your specific needs.

satellite television systems

While we aim to offer uninterrupted services, global signal strengths and differences in yacht satellite receiver capabilities may impact reliability. If satellite television is essential for your charter, please consult your broker to avoid potential disappointment.

smoking on board

Smoking is restricted to outdoor decks and designated areas on certain yachts to ensure safety and compliance. Smoking inside cabins and staterooms is strictly prohibited on all yachts as a security precaution.

why are shoes not allowed on yachts?

Superyacht teak decking requires careful maintenance due to its delicate nature. Crew members wear specialized boat shoes onboard to prevent damage, and some yachts may provide them for guests.
